Drinking a Manhattan reminds me of my dad, RC Root, a Wyoming cowboy who wasn’t comfortable in Manhattan unless he was having one.
Ingredients:
2 oz of Rye Whisky (preferably Canadian) I like Wiser’s 18 (can also use your choice of any high end bourbon)
½ capful of crème de cassis
A dash of Bitters
1 drop of vanilla extract
Directions:
Shake vigorously in a small cocktail shaker half-filled with crushed ice
Pour into a chilled martini glass or highball, if you must
Garnish with two Luxardo cherries
Garnish with an orange peel twist
Garnish with an lemon peel twist
Sip slowly while preparing your next one
